名詞所有格
one of my brother』s friends （明確表示我兄弟有乙個以上的朋友）
a friend of my brother』s (暗指不止乙個朋友)
a friend of my brother (對我朋友有好感的人)
my brother』s friend (我哥哥的唯一的朋友)
to的所有格用法
一般所有格利用of，有時候，有些固定搭配也是需要到to的，下面總結了一些to作為所有格形式的固定搭配

the way to the park
the ticket to the ball game
另外，of一般用於沒有生命的東西，如：the leg of the desk.
as follow，as follows，和following
as follow 和 as follows （adv. 如下）相比較，一般用as follows。
as following (adj. 接下來的，下乙個的)

be of + 名詞
be of 後面接兩種意義不同性質和型別的名詞。他們的意義大相徑庭。
be of + value, importance, use, help, significance, interest, benefit等一些抽象詞，用來說明句子所具有的作用、重要性和意義等。
they are of great help to learners of english.他們對英語學習者有很大作用。
this book is of great value to learn history.這本書對學習歷史有很大價值。
be of + 名詞，用來說明句子主語在度量、形狀、顏色、大小等方面的特徵，這類名詞包括：color，age, size, height, weight, shape, type, kind, quality等。這類名詞前常用different, all, the same, this, that, a(n)等來修飾。如：
coins might be of different size, color, weight, shapes, and of different metals.
貨幣可能在大小、重量、形狀和鑄造的金屬方面都有所不同。
these pens are of different colors.
這些筆有許多不同的顏色。
