將mantis壓縮檔案解壓到乙個目錄，讓web server可以訪問。
在mysql建立乙個資料庫，取名mantis，建立乙個使用者取名mantis，密碼自定，並讓此使用者有操作mantis資料庫許可權，然後用mantis使用者執行第1步解壓的mantis/sql目錄下的db_generate.sql。
在mantis目錄下將config_inc.php.sample更名為config_inc.php，將裡面 $g_hostname， $g_db_username， $g_db_password， $g_database_name設定為上面第二步關於訪問mysql資料庫的設定。
將config_default_inc.php檔案中$g_default_language，$g_fallback_language內容拷過來，改為$g_fallback_language="chinese_simplified"，$g_default_language="chinese_simplified"。
如果要在操作mantis的時候能夠傳送郵件提示，那麼就需要配置**tp選項，由於mantis通過phpmailer支援**tp傳送，所以需要先在php安裝目錄下建立乙個includes目錄，然後修改php.ini檔案，找到include_path變數，將你php目錄包含進去，比如include_path = ".;f:/greenamp/php/includes"，再將mantis/core/phpmailer目錄下的class.phpmailer.php、class.**tp.php和language目錄拷貝到includes目錄，並且config_default_inc.php檔案中$g_administrator_email，$g_webmaster_email ，$g_from_email，$g_return_path_email，$g_enable_email_notification，$g_phpmailer_method，$g_**tp_host，$g_**tp_username，$g_**tp_password拷貝過來並改為以下內容
$g_administrator_email = '你自己的email位址';
$g_webmaster_email = '你自己的email位址';
$g_from_email = '你自己的email位址';
$g_return_path_email = '你自己的email位址';
$g_enable_email_notification = on;
$g_phpmailer_method = 2;
